“Paris has more than 600 ‘impasses’: streets that come to a dead end. Cul-de-sacs. And that is without counting the hundreds of cités, villas and squares. The photographs offer a glimpse of part of Paris that usually goes unnoticed. The photographs are taken from 2011 to 2019. Most of them during an artist-in-residence period in fall 2015, thanks to the Flemish Government.
The photobook PARIS IMPASSE by Karin Borghouts was shortlisted for the LUMA RENCONTRES DUMMY AWARD 2019 in ARLES, France. Book design by Jean-Michel Meyers.
The prototype was exhibited together with the 17 other nominees during Les Rencontres de la photographie, Arles in July and August 2019.
