Paris has about 600 impasses, cités, villas and squares: streets that come to a dead end. Cul-de-sacs. Within the Périphérique, Paris is the most densely populated city in Europe, with more than 20,000 inhabitants per square kilometre. The photographs offer a glimpse of part of Paris that usually goes unnoticed. The photographs are taken from 2011 to 2019. Most of them during an artist-in-residence period in fall 2015, thanks to the Flemish Government.
The photobook PARIS IMPASSE by Karin Borghouts and graphic designer Jean-Michel Meyers was shortlisted for the LUMA Rencontres Dummy Award 2019 in ARLES, France.
