About

  • Karin Borghouts PORTRAIT Wouter Bollaerts
  • Karin Borghouts is a professional Belgian art and documentary photographer. She photographs places, preferably architectural environments and interiors. She also photographs still lifes, either on location or in her studio. Recently she has also started photographing people in special places. She also makes videos to document places and people.
Her personal work occupies a position between photography and visual art, and is rich in references to painting. Her photographs can be found in the collections of the Photographic Museums of Antwerp and Charleroi (Belgium), the KMSKA, the University of Antwerp, the Proximus Art Collection in Brussels, the Delen Private Bank, etc. Her work has been shown in many individual and group exhibitions in Belgium and abroad. Karin Borghouts works on her own projects (art and documentary photography). She likes to work in site-specific projects and has extensive experience in printing, publishing and exhibiting. She also works on commissions for art, cultural and heritage organisations, museums, publishers, architects and city councils. Karin Borghouts studied painting, sculpture and photography and has also worked as a graphic designer. Starting with a Linhof large format camera, she now works with the latest digital equipment.
Karin Borghouts has had several solo exhibitions in museums, such as the Musée de la Photographie in Charleroi Belgium and Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden The Netherlands. Karin has been supported by Gallery Ronny Van de Velde and regularly participates in group exhibitions at Gallery De Mijlpaal.

Most of the photographs are available as high quality archival pigment prints in a limited edition with a signed certificate.

The personal series THE HOUSE, VINCENT WAS HERE, INTERLUDIUM, PARIS IMPASSE and AU BORINAGE are framed and available for exhibition. New series are in progress.
